You will be involved in the development and optimisation of protocols for the differentiation of human stem cell lines and other associated cell lines. In addition, you will be involved the bank’s programme to improve of current cell banking, safety, quality control & characterisation methodologies. Pfizer Regenerative Medicine is a Research Unit within Pfizer with a spotlight on the application of stem cell biology towards developing new therapies for human disease, particularly cell based therapies. An important focus for the Unit are adult stems cells such as mesenchymal stem cells, and their potential application in allogeneic and autologous cell therapy for a variety of diseases, including those with an immune dysfunction basis and those with a vascular pathophysiology.
We are looking for an experienced immunologist to join the Pfizer Regenerative Medicine Research Unit. Your primary role will be in our adult stem cell therapy programme. One of your key areas will be to lead in the design and execution of studies focussing upon the mechanisms of interaction of adult stem cells with the immune system as an aid to understanding the biology underpinning their efficacy. There will also be the opportunity to consider novel approaches to biomarkers for cell function, and to explore the potential application of adult stem cell therapies to different disease states.
You will be expected to act as a resource in applying scientific knowledge to the work of other scientists in Pfizer Regenerative Medicine. You will be required to work independently as part of a larger team, and be accountable for the delivery and achievement of specific goals. The ability to form strong, productive collaborations with groups within Pfizer and external to Pfizer to enable the rapid progression of projects will be expected. You will also be expected to demonstrate flexibility in approach and to work in a fluid, entrepreneurial research environment. The Division of Translational Vaccine Research and the Department of Hematology have an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate interested in the study of immunologic mechanisms related to control of hematologic malignancy. The focus of the position is manipulation of human T cells specific for the WT1 antigen in lymphoma. The goal of this project is to develop a vaccine strategy for lymphoma patients based upon the WT1 antigen using viral and other vaccine delivery approaches. Most of the work will involve studies with human blood and marrow specimens, though work with murine models will be a minor component of this position. The ideal candidate will have experience with manipulations of primary human T cells including isolation and purification, cell culture, T cell functional assays including cytotoxicity assays and in vitro stimulation using peptides or viruses, LTCIC assays, and experience with flow cytometry, especially polychromatic flow using a modern 6-color instrument. The Transplant Unit conducts over 500 allo and auto stem cell transplants annually and is ranked 3rd highest in volume in the USA. Over 500 new lymphoma patients are accrued annually to the Hematology Department. A Ph.D. in immunology, applied clinical science, or cell biology is required, and experience with molecular approaches including virologic methods would be an advantage for the successful candidate.

We are seeking an experienced research scientist in the field of Cell biology research, preferably human embryonic stem cell, to participate in California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) and NHLBI funded programs focused on the development of suspension adaptation, scalable manufacturing processes, differentiation processes, manufacturing of clinical grade final cell products and characterization assays. The He/she will be part of a dynamic team and participate in the maintenance, expansion and differentiation of the hESC under research and cGMP conditions. He/she will also participate in the efforts on the characterization of the hESC and the differentiated cells, including cell surface/internal protein expression, expression of marker genes, genetic abnormality, and epigenetic fingerprinting of human embryonic stem cells.
