The Biotechnology Research sector in Portugal is of top level quality.

The Bioindustry sector in Portugal, as a whole, is still emerging while gives its first steps. However, the potential of growth and development of this sector is very high, promising and interesting.

The Nanoscience / Nanotechnology Research sector in Portugal is also of top level quality. Besides, its potential in a next future will increase much more, due to the creation of the INL (International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory), the result of the joint and cooperative efforts between:

• the Government of Spain, some of the involved Spanish Organs of sovereignty, the most important Spanish Nanoscience / Nanotechnology Research Laboratories and the highly skilled and qualified Spanish Nanoscientists;
• the Government of Portugal, some of the Portuguese Organs of sovereignty, the most important Portuguese Nanoscience / Nanotechnology Research Laboratories and the highly skilled and qualified Portuguese Nanoscientists.

The Nanoindustry sector in Portugal is also still emerging. Nevertheless, the potential of growth and development of this sector is also very high, promising and interesting.

The Portuguese Bioindustry and Nanoindustry sectors have different potential valences. Some of those potential valences will increase their impact on a very close future:
